CSR Action

This CSR Action Declaration outlines the direction we should pursue and the choices we should make in our business operations from the perspective of corporate social responsibility. Cosmo Seiki will promote understanding of this declaration among all executives and employees to realize its principles.

1.Ethical Business Conduct

1) Prohibition of Bribery and Corruption

Cosmo Seiki does not tolerate any form of bribery or corrupt practices.

2) Fair Competition

Cosmo Seiki prohibits all illegal and unethical business practices, including:

  • Any form of extortion or embezzlement
  • Involvement with or benefiting anti-social forces

We also avoid unfair business practices such as:

  • Abuse of superior bargaining positions
  • Collusion with competitors or any conduct that impedes fair competition

3) Information Security

We implement and maintain proper information management systems to protect confidential data from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or leakage.

4) Whistleblower System

We have established a suggestion box accessible to all employees and executives to report or raise concerns about violations of laws, internal rules, or ethics. Anonymous reporting is allowed, and whistleblowers are protected from retaliation.

5) Quality Management System

We continuously operate a PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to enhance product quality through the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of a highly effective quality management system.

2. Respect for Human Rights and Labor

A workplace where human rights are respected is essential for every employee to perform at their best. Cosmo Seiki supports the principle of "Respect for Fundamental Human Rights" as defined in the Japanese Constitution and actively addresses human rights issues.

1) Prohibition of Discrimination

We eliminate discrimination in areas such as wages, promotion, training opportunities, etc., based on age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, pregnancy, marital status, or other factors.

We also prohibit and take measures to prevent physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal harassment, abuse, or any other inhumane treatment.

2) Working Hours and Holidays/Leave

We comply with all legal requirements concerning overtime and maximum working hours. If any employees work more than 60 hours per week on a regular basis, corrective actions will be taken.

3. Harmony with the Environment

Understanding and practicing environmental responsibility is essential for manufacturing globally viable products. As a manufacturing company, Cosmo Seiki minimizes the negative impact of our operations on local communities, the environment, and natural resources, while ensuring public health and safety.

1) Environmental Conservation and Reduction of Environmental Impact

We focus on reducing resource usage, energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water intake, and wastewater, promoting energy saving and sustainable practices.

2) Pollution Prevention and Resource Reduction

We manage pollution sources, introduce prevention systems, and change processes in production, maintenance, and facility management to minimize pollutant emissions and waste generation.

3) Hazardous Substances

We clearly label and identify hazardous chemicals and ensure their safe handling, transportation, storage, use, recycling, reuse, and disposal.

4. Occupational Safety and Health

Cosmo Seiki strives to ensure occupational health and safety to protect employees from work-related hazards. By complying with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and internal safety guidelines, we prevent exposure to dangerous tasks and identify and resolve safety and health issues through education and feedback.

1) Occupational Accidents and Illnesses

We establish systems and procedures to:

  1. Encourage reporting by employees
  2. Record and categorize incidents
  3. Support health checks and wellness management
  4. Provide necessary medical treatment
  5. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
  6. Facilitate return-to-work programs

2) Industrial Hygiene

We assess and manage chemical, biological, and physical risks in the workplace and provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

5. Harmony with Society

Corporate social responsibility extends to all aspects of interaction between business and society. In addition to serving stakeholders' interests, we are committed to understanding and supporting the needs and concerns of local communities.
